Our World Depends on Children

It is the year 2035.  The last child born on earth was born in 2010.  Inexplicably, women around the globe stopped getting pregnant, children ceased to be born.

The youngest person on earth is 25 years old.  There are no more playgrounds.  There are no more primary or secondary schools.  There is no more Santa Claus.  The population steadily declines and businesses close.

Corporations that previously had done little to support young children are now donating large sums to research facilities in hopes that a cure for this global infertility can be found.
Time is running out.  If the solution isn’t found, eventually there will be no women young enough to give birth.

Desperation grows with each passing year.

Far fetched?  Probably.  But what this little glimpse of science fiction illustrates is that our economy – our world depends on children.
