Supporting Children & Families in the North Vancouver Island

Comox Valley

Each summer, Comox Valley Success by 6 provides funding to an outdoor Family Support Program for families in the Comox Valley – Hop with Me.  This partnership of Early Years serving agencies provides a weekly outdoor play, support and parenting education program that includes a healthy meal for all participants.

Success by 6 Aboriginal Engagement Funding, in partnership with School District 71, supports the Comox Valley Early Years Aboriginal Program, a birth to three year old parent and child program that focuses on cultural learning, parenting support  and nutrition while connecting parents to community services and resources.

In the Comox Valley, there are many active Early Years community development councils including the Early Years Inter-Agency Council, the C.V. Perinatal Advisory Council, the Council for Aboriginal Early Childhood Development and the SD 71/Early Learning Steering Committee. These well-established councils work towards planning for the improvement of Early Years services in the community.  For more information, contact the Success by 6 Coordinator.

Campbell River

In March the Campbell River region organizes a free Children’s Health Fair for families.  Many agencies come together to provide free vision, hearing, dental, speech and developmental screening for children along with tons of resources for parents.  There are plenty of activities for children and parents, and Family Place joins us on the day for a place for children and parents to relax.
