Supporting Children & Families in the Prince Rupert Region
In 2009 the Prince Rupert Success By 6 team and our ECEBC partners had a Proclamation created and signed by our city stating that Prince Rupert is a Child Friendly City. This Proclamation was resigned on October 28th, 2013 and will help guide the City’s planning.
In Lax Kw’alaams we have partnered with many others to create a 5 month literacy initiative with the Coast Tsimshian Academy. It was such a success it is now an annual event.
The Gitxaala (Kitkatla) community gathers often for community events. Success by 6 is involved with these events, bringing our resources as well as resources from other community partners.
P.A.C.E.S. Hub is a great success for Success 6 Prince Rupert. The Hub was a vision of the very first Success by 6 Council of Partners as a space and area dedicated for parents in Ecole Roosevelt Community School. Some of the success stories from the Hub include parents getting help with their resumes, financial literacy workshops, sewing classes, parenting classes, men’s circle, to name just a few.
Success by 6 partnered with Metlakatla to offer an 8 week reading program over the summer months to keep kids reading through the summer.
Gitga'at had a 4 day family event which Success by 6 was able to be a part of with workshops, dancing, crafts and community dinners over two nights.
