Supporting Children & Families in the Boundary Region

Each year our region celebrates Aboriginal Day at various locations within the Boundary.  The day’s events include food, fun and games for the entire family.

Every year we organize Early Years Fairs that take place in East and West Boundary. Service providers and kindergarten teachers set up information tables and families that attend receive information on programs and services available in their communities. Parents have access to the screening tool - Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) and the ASQ for Social Emotional which helps them understand where there child is at in terms of their development. Children may also be assessed for vision, hearing and dental screening.  A play area is provided for the entire family.

The Boundary Region has implemented a Family Friendly Business Initiative.  At the regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business Week Awards night, our first award was presented to Bored Room Bistro in Midway.  Special thanks to the Grand Forks Credit Union for providing and presenting the award.

The Granny and Grampa Connections Box kits have visited each community in the Boundary from Christina Lake to Beaverdell and have been enjoyed by many families in the StrongStart Centres.
