Supporting Children & Families in the Central Okanagan

We are partnering to provide a one-day parent education event in Spring 2014 with speakers and topics highlighting the importance of social and emotional development in young children. Traditional Aboriginal values are rooted and will be expressed throughout the event.  Funding for this event is provided through the Credit Union dues levy grants.

Each fall we partner with CATCH (Community Action Towards Children's Health) to coordinate the Annual Aboriginal Family Gathering.  The 6^th gathering was held outdoors and focused on child participation through pony rides, petting zoo and a bouncy house. Families also celebrated their cultures through Lahal games, drumming, a friendship dance and a traditional meal.

Our Success by 6 recognizes the importance of early identification and is supporting the Ages and Stages Questionnaire training for those working directly with children and their families.

We fund the delivery of Family Resource Programs to under-serviced communities to support families that may be geographically and/or emotionally isolated.  These programs promote healthy development through education, peer support, information sharing, and health promotion.
